Zygomatic Implants

No Jawbone? No Problem — Cheekbone Support Is the Solution

In cases of severe upper jawbone loss, conventional implants may fail to anchor properly.
Zygomatic implants offer an advanced solution by anchoring into the cheekbone (zygoma) instead of the jawbone — making it possible to treat patients who were previously told that implants were not an option.

🦴 What Are Zygomatic Implants?

  • Long implants, typically 30–50 mm, inserted at a special angle

  • Anchored directly into the zygoma (cheekbone)

  • Eliminate the need for bone grafts or sinus lifting

  • Often combined with 4 regular + 2 zygomatic implants for full arch restoration

Who Needs Them?

  • Patients with severe upper jawbone resorption

  • Enlarged sinus cavities preventing traditional implant placement

  • Individuals who have had multiple failed implant attempts

  • Edentulous patients unable to tolerate conventional dentures

🌟 Advantages

  • No need for additional bone grafting procedures

  • Faster overall treatment timeline

  • Immediate placement of fixed temporary prosthesis

  • High success rate, especially in full-arch rehabilitation

🛠️ Treatment Process

  1. A CT scan is used to analyze the zygomatic bone

  2. Surgery is performed under general anesthesia

  3. Temporary fixed teeth are placed on the same day

  4. Permanent prosthesis is delivered after 3–4 months of healing

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. Is it safe to place implants into the cheekbone?
Yes. The zygomatic bone is dense and offers strong anchorage for long-term stability.

  2. Will I feel pain?
No. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia.

  3. Who qualifies for zygomatic implants?
Patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw who cannot receive standard implants.
